In a city pulsing with stories, this eco-forward project chooses silence. It was conceived so that, inside, you don’t feel the city at all, but an architectural hush that honors the collective memory of San Miguel de Allende’s historic fabric.
From the core of interior designer Claudia Grajales emerges a genuine desire: to create a multidisciplinary space where architecture, design, and art coexist. From that root, she invites architect Alejandro D’costa to intervene in a historic property with a respectful, sustainable vision.
The work rebuilds itself from its own memory. From excavations and demolitions, reclaimed stone, wood, and metal become the raw matter of the building system. Less waste, more meaning: every wall holds two times; every texture, a continuity.
Since its opening, the place has become an icon in San Miguel-not for raising its voice, but for its quiet presence. It preserves the historic character while adding a contemporary gesture that enfolds the property’s essence. Here the old and the new do not compete; they converse. Here sustainability is not ornament: it is method, ethic, and form.
