Guanajuato International Film Festival
The Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF) — one of Latin America's most important film festivals — returns for its 29th edition. Founded in 1998, it splits between Guanajuato City (July 24–28) and San Miguel de Allende, where the festival runs July 29 to August 2 across ten venues.
This year brings 203 films from 55 countries under the theme "A journey to the heart of our species," with Qatar as guest of honor and tributes to actresses Cecilia Suárez and Marina de Tavira. Screenings take over iconic spaces like the Teatro Ángela Peralta and Centro Cultural Ignacio Ramírez — and most are free, on a first-come, first-served basis, so arrive early.
